FEAR FREE/LOW STRESS VISITS
It is our mission here at Preiser Animal Hospital to provide our patients with the best care. We have implemented some changes here at Preiser Animal Hospital to help us provide your pet the best medicine while minimizing his/her stress. If you were in over the last 6-8 months you may have heard classical music playing in the exam rooms. These music boxes play the proper frequencies of music to minimize stress and anxieties for our pets, and us in turn. You may also notice that in recent months we have added non-slip mats and towels on the exam room table tops. These help to make our smaller pets more comfortable during their exams. We have added diffusers to each of the exam rooms. These diffusers release cat and dog pheromones that lessen the anxieties of our pets. We also recommend bringing your pet in a little hungry or with his or her favorite treats. We use a lot of positive reinforcement with the animals in the form of treats. They make great distractions while we are giving vaccines or trimming toenails! Hopefully your little furry friend will look forward to his or her future vet visits with us!!
Preiser Animal Hospital works closely with the community to help local animal shelters. In 2002, Dr. Herbert Preiser founded Heartland Animal Shelter which is located in the building next door to the clinic. The shelter now finds homes for over 1000 animals per year and has been gaining recognition of one of the top animal shelters in the Chicago area. Continuing her father's work, Dr. Kristine Preiser volunteers her time as the shelter veterinarian to perform many of the spays and neuters for the shelter, as well as oversees all medical care for the animals while they are waiting to find their forever homes. To find out more please visit them at www.heartlandanimalshelter.net.
